About the Project

Civitas, in its current iteration, operates in a multifaceted manner in order to address systemic and acute issues faced by homeless communities in New Delhi, India. Civitas aims at providing weather resistant support by providing essential relief resources and nutritional support to homeless communities and people from underserved and insecure communities across New Delhi, India. Additionally, Civitas undertakes essential awareness and advocacy initiatives to raise public recognition of structural inequities and systemic conditions that result in homelessness and its accompanying insecurities. 

Civitas approaches this issue holistically by incorporating multiple operational activities aimed directly at homeless communities and the surrounding ecosystem they inhabit. With advocacy and knowledge sharing measures such as the Winds of Change podcast series, fundraising towards procurement of essential resources and kits, weather resistant attire and clothing, to promoting existing initiatives undertaken by NGOs and CSOs, and extensively collaborating with Help Each Other, co-creating pop-up kitchens for nutritional support for homeless individuals and communities, we engage with the ecosystem for creating a cohesive, holistic systemic approach to alleviating difficulties associated with homelessness.
